Tooth ache

I have a tooth ache. To be more specific - a sabortooth ache, for Sass & Bide's latest clutch to hit stores any day now. Spotted on the runway at London Fashion Week as part of the brands Fall/Winter 2010 collection.

Pictured from top to bottom: Fall 2010 runway at London Fashion Week; Designer's Sarah-Jane Clarke & Heidi Middleton; Stylist Pip Edwards.

We all know I love a good wait list - which is why, when I heard this week that the tooth fairy had made a delivery to S&B's Paddington store, I immediately phoned up the lovely girls at Perth's one-and-only King St store to put my name down for this bad boy. Just as well, as not only was I told that all the girls working there want one, but I do believe they will arrive in limited numbers.

UPDATE: S&B have very kindly sent me a one-off clutch to the Perth store!

Anna, Aurora + Viviana

The Vogue Nippon team are my favourite fashionable threesome. Anna and her 2 assistants, Aurora and Viviana, were spotted rocking the same iconic Prada SS2010 chandelier heels to a recent event.

What might normally be considered a very awkward situation, of being seen in the same...shoe, leads me to believe that Anna, Aurora and Viviana tend not to take fashion too seriously. What I love most about the fashionistas is, not only their obvious style (and dream careers), but how happy and fun they always look together - like refreshing rays of sunshine beaming through the fashion world.

Sorry Muiccia, but the best accessory here are smiles all round.

The Birds

As always, I love Tom Ford's latest 'Alfred Hitchcock-esque' themed campaign, for the Fall/Winter 2010 eyewear collection, which doesn't disappoint. Featuring the amazing Freja Beha Erichsen for women, and actor Nicholas Hoult for men in this provocative and cheeky campaign, photographed in London by the designer himself.

The products will feature 4 Disney characters in the form of lipsticks, powders, lip gloss and blush shades. MAC have released a sneak peak teaser - see if you can guess who the villains are!

UPDATE: MAC Cosmetics have announced the villains! (you may have guessed it already) They are; Cruella De Vil from 101 Dalmations, the Evil Queen from Snow White, Maleficient from Sleeping Beauty and Dr. Facilier from The Princess and The Frog.

Beautiful imperfections

I'm often asked what I love most about models and why. For me it is their uniqueness and, how often, it's their imperfections that make them. Models are so heavily ridiculed for being too skinny or for being this or that. Abbey Lee Kershaw put it perfectly in an interview with Today Tonight, when asked what she thinks about the pressure at the top of the industry to be thin Kershaw responds, "that's like asking a body builder how they feel about the pressures to be incredibly muscley. An elite performer is always put under some sort of extreme pressure, that the rest of society can argue and might not quite understand".

Often people don't understand the true purpose of a model; they think they are there to just be pretty and show off the dress. That is the case to an extent, however, model's are in fact blank canvases for a designer or client - to be moulded into whatever imaginative creation possible and to express a vision that can not always be put into words. It may not always be the true sense of the word "beauty".

Their candid moments and flaws are what I look up to, and their ability to portray a certain moment/idea/feeling/ really is inspiring.

As Coco Chanel once said "in order to be irreplaceable, one must always be different".

So love your flaws.

Meiselpic

Photographer Steven Meisel took inspiration from Twitter for the December 2009 issue of Vogue Italia, rebranding Twitpic - "Meiselpic". In the issue, Meisel tweets in sick to 20 of his model followers - and what comes next are a wide selection of models in true twitpic style self-portraits, featuring an epic 20 page spread.
Above is a glimpse of Meisel-tweets from Freja, Abbey, Gisele, Karlie, Sessilee and Sasha.

The weird and wonderful Abbey Lee

pictured above: Abbey Lee for 10 Magazine's Summer 2010 issue

5 things you may not know about model Abbey Lee Kershaw:

1. She has a pet lizard called Annie Hall (which she takes to the pub).

2. She has 6 tattoos and 10 piercings - "If I weren't a model, I'd be a walking collage" (she has a "fascination" with pain, despite being scared of needles).

3. She's a former dancer.

4. She has no shame - she once wet the bed with her boyfriend in it.

5. She swings both ways.

For me, Abbey Lee is a reminder that if you fall - you better get back up again. And she has quite literally done just that - despite what would seem career ending to most. In 2008 she famously fainted on the runways of Paris - the show was Alexander McQueen's 2009 Spring/Summer collection - the culprit was Fashion Week fatigue and a particularly tight corset. Two weeks prior, Kershaw took a fall at Rodarte - becoming a victim of Nicholas Kirkwood's vertiginous heels.

New additions and addictions

The World's premier online luxury shopping destination is about to get a whole lot better (and a lot more hazardous!) with news of a few new additions.

The most significant addition is undoubtedly Gucci. Signifying a change in the evolution and representation of the iconic Italian label, all thanks to Creative Director Frida Giannini, making the label more accessible by signing on with Net-A-Porter.

Other labels to join my favourite online shopping haven are, The Row, Antonio Berardi and NYC jeweller Pamela Love (who has recently collaborated with Camilla & Marc for their Spring-Summer 2010/11 jewellery collection as featured on the runway at RAFW).

Stay tuned for Net-A-Porter's online menswear division soon to launch for S/S 2011.

Disney couture

Spanish ELLE were clearly in a goofy frame of mind too, for their April 2010 edition, turning some of the most prestigious fashion designers into Disney characters. Karl Lagerfeld, Alber Elbaz, Donatella Versace, Dolce & Gabbana, Marc Jacobs, Sonia Rykiel and Jean Paul Gaultier, were all disney-fied thanks to Ulrich Schroder.

The Simpsons go to Paris

The Simpsons are off to Paris, but....what to wear? Bart's favourite supermodel, Linda Evangelista, takes the family for a French fashion folly.

Marge let's down her hair for Versace; Lisa gives up her pearls for Alber Elbaz; Homer channels Karl Lagerfeld; and yes, that's Maggie ridding around in Jean Paul Gaultier's Birkin.

Harper's Bazaar are never shy of being brilliantly bizarre. In their August 2007 edition, they teamed up with Simpsons illustrator Julius Preite, to deliver the Fall RTW collection in a yellow haze.
