Givenchy Fall 2010 Haute Couture

It's times like this where I wish I didn't use words to describe things as "amazing" or "love" so in this case it would have more of a meaning.

The Givenchy Haute Couture Fall collection was shown in Paris on July 6 in an intimate presentation, detailing painstakingly elaborate detailed pieces by the designer, Riccardo Tisci.

He described his collection as "a romantic way to see death"; which is best seen in the intricate details -- zipper pulls were little bones, a belt was a spinal column re-created in porcelain, and a tiny ceramic skull sprouting angel wings nestled in amongst crystal, pearls and lace on the back of a jacket. The dominant motif for the collection -- the skeleton.

Dresses encrusted with gold paillettes, stones and beads were apparently almost too heavy to lift. There was a lace catsuit decorated with a Swarovski crystal skeleton which took 1,600 hours to create, and a lace dress taking 6 months.

Shivers down my spine.
